netiquette

I thought some might be interested in reading some more about "email etiquette" or commonly known as "netiquette". I have compiled some of the information I know about it.

  • The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) develops and promotes Internet standards, a Request for Comments (RFC) document has been created to detail the proper use of some internet communication technologies. The RFC is numbered 1855 and the following link contains its guidelines: http://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc1855.
  • There is also a book titled: Netiquette by Virginia Shea, which has plenty of information regarding this issue, for those that want to read more detail about particular use of an internet technology. Luckily there is an online version which you can read for free. This is a link to its table of contents: http://www.albion.com/netiquette/book/index.html

While the above resources are somewhat formal in nature and can be used to train coworkers on the proper used on internet communication; there are several more informal references which can be found across the internet. Here are some that encompass the basics on netiquette:

I hope this helps broaden the subject for those interested
